Many of the students of Gujarat University are waiting for their withheld results. The administrators of several colleges have written to the officials of Gujarat University about the dilemma of passing or failing the students who have been marked fail.
This issue has come up because of the recent decision taken by authorities of Gujarat University to promote students who fail in more than seven subjects in annual semester. But this decision hasn't been applied in the mark sheet issued by Gujarat University for that particular batch of students. The Principal of a famous college of Gujarat University said that "Many students have not passed in some subjects and have been marked fail". Now the dilemma is whether to promote these students for the next academic year or not.

A new university is being established in Nalanda, India, right on the sight of where the best university in India in ancient times used to stand. The new university, scheduled to open in 2013, is in fact meant as a tribute to the glory of that ancient school.

Some members of the board of the new Nalanda University, including the chairperson Amartya Sen, have asked to delay its construction in order to do more excavation at the site. There remain many indications that there was much more to the ancient university than what has been found to date. The Indian Culture Secretary has referred the matter to a technical committee of the Archaeological Survey of India to carry out exploration at the site and determine whether more excavation was needed.
