The Innovations Universities of India

The Indian Ministry for Human Resource Development plans to organize a round-table to discuss the idea of Innovation Universities in India, as per the Innovation for Universities Bill 2010. There have been a number of various arguments for and against the Bill, as the former Vice-Chancellor of the National Law School of India University in Bangalore, N.R. Madhava Menon, suggested there would be several difficulties with implementation although a number of intelligent Indian students and academics would be attracted to the idea.
Nevertheless, there is still a lot of cynicism and doubt from Indian academics about the initiatives of the Indian Government with regards to the education sector and Indian universities. In additional, SASTRA University based in Tamil Nadu, argued that this grouping of Innovation Universities in India could result in the closure of other top Indian universities that may not be a part of such a grouping.
