Bill Gates in India Offers Free MS Windows Software to College Students

Bill Gates went to India for an extended trip in 2008 on behalf of his charity foundation, and while he was there, he launched an initiative to help Indian college students. The DreamSpark program, as the initiative is known, provides a free MS software suite to all Indian technical students, which includes Windows Server, Microsoft Visual Studio, Expression Studio, Virtual PC and more. This initiative can help many Indian students who may not have traditionally been able to afford the Microsoft programs.
To get the software, all a student has to do is to walk into any NIIT or Aptech training institute and show their college identity card and they will receive the free packet of DVDs. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for the free offer. Another way to get the software from home is to download it from the website dreamsparkindia.com, but this only works if the student has a high bandwidth internet connection.
